Really enjoyed this meal overall. The warm goat cheese salad was a standout—the mix of creamy cheese with beets and cranberries worked perfectly together and tasted super fresh. For my main, I had the Chilean sea bass served with cherry tomatoes over arugula, and it was cooked beautifully. Everything came together with really amazing flavor combinations. I’d definitely come back for this.

When we first when into Malanders.. I was stunned by the beauty of the restaurant and the politeness of the staff. We were quickly greeted and seated within seconds of coming in. Our waiter was absolutely amazing and always checking on us to make sure we were okay. This was my first time ever ordering beef wellington and I can say... it was phenomenal, cooked to a perfect medium. The flavor was on point and it was SO juicy (alot of complements to the chef) I would absolutely return and try it again.

I recently had the opportunity to work a private event hosted by Maldaner's Restaurant, and I was genuinely impressed from start to finish. The historic setting creates a unique and memorable atmosphere that really elevates any event. The food was outstanding and the service was exceptional across the board. What stood out most, however, was the level of support we received leading up to and during the event. The staff was incredibly helpful, responsive, and attentive to every detail. A special thank you to their manager, Jason, who truly exceeded expectations. Jason went above and beyond to coordinate our needs and ensure everything ran smoothly. His professionalism and commitment made a significant difference in the success of the event. Having worked events all over the state of Illinois, I can confidently say that Maldaner’s Restaurant truly stands out. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for an exceptional venue with top-tier food and service.

Reservation for a birthday - overall okay experience for drinks and service. For the price point and very limited menu, courses were poorly timed with portions of both entrees were cool by arrival. Staff graciously comped deserts :) Great for a casual night but not for a special occasion compared to others of the price point!

I visited Maldaner's for lunch twice during a recent trip to Illinois, and had terrific food both times. The service was helpful, professional and attentive. My sister told me to try the horseshoe sandwich, which originated in the area. It was humongous (even the smaller version, "ponyshoe" was huge), but delicious. The vegetarian version had loads of fresh, grilled veggies, topped with welsh rarebit, topped with several inches of French fries. The second time, I wisely ordered the Vegetable Stir Fry with green tea rice as recommended by my server. It was absolutely delicious. There were also several other tempting vegetarian options.
